Farer GMT Bezel Collection Expands with Two New Pieces
Farer Universal, the British Brand that has risen to fame through their affordable, good value-for-money watches and intricate, unique and vibrant designs has released Two New additions to the GMT Bezel collection. Plus, this article covers three Positives and three things that Could Be Better about this duo of releases from the British x Swiss brand.
Farer Universal, the British Brand that has risen to fame through their affordable, good value-for-money watches and intricate, unique and vibrant designs has released Two New additions to the GMT Bezel collection, a series of GMT function Travel-style watches in a series of vibrant colours and dial designs.
Firstly, there is the 'Nevada Mocha' - a 38MM version in traditional Mocha colours, a 'coffee-cream' and Cocoa Brown combination, which compliment each other well, especially on the Sapphire-insert bezel, showing the indices in opposing colours in the classic GMT-style. This watch houses a Sellita SW330-2 Top Grade movement, and can be viewed through the Sapphire Crystal open caseback, allowing the owner to see into the mechanics of their piece, especially the custom logo-cut Farer Universal Rotor. The movement boasts an impressive 56-Hours Power Reserve, making the perfect travel watch to put down and use on-the-move.

The dial is a beautifully-engraved Barley Corn Guilloche dial, that offers a mesmerising gradient from the Dark Cocoa Brown at the edge, to a lighter brown in the centre around the movement pinion. The date window features a standard white unpainted wheel, and the GMT Hand is in a vibrant blue shade, which is a little out of place on the Mocha colour palette, much like the Farer logo at the tip of the seconds hand, which is also painted in a Bright Orange, making both hands noticeable, but possibly off-putting for some. The hour and minutes hands stick to the same colours as the rest of the watch, in the light Cream Coffee colour, filled with X1 SuperLumiNova.
The Nevada Pine is the pairing release added to the GMT Bezel collection. This watch arrives in a slightly larger 40MM, yet contains mostly the same specifications as the 38MM Nevada Mocha, so the same value-for-money, whichever colour and size suits your needs.
Obviously, the big change is the colour scheme of the timepiece. This piece features the Pine Green and Jade Green colour combination, with Jade Green Hour markers and hours, minutes and seconds hands. The tip of the seconds hand on this watch is much more complimentary with the rest of the watch's colours, with a soft beige, lume-filled pointer, rather than the bright orange on the Mocha Model. While highly legible, the GMT hand on the Nevada Pine is a vibrant orange, which is out of place on the dial much to the same effect as on the Nevada Mocha, yet the orange seems to compliment the various green tones better than the Coffee Cream and Cocoa Brown of the Nevada Pine's counterpart.

The use of Lume on this duo of Timepieces is certainly not disappointing, which enhances the practicality and function of the watches, and gives good reason to the use of the slightly large and thick indices and hour markers. The use of Lume in all of the hands is impressive, being traditional of Farer, making watches that are not only appealing visually, but more importantly practical - as the use of Lume in the GMT hand emphasises the brand's desire for the wearer to use the function in the piece.

Both of these watches start at £1,375, a very reasonable price for the specifications, craftsmanship and functionality of the watch, and this price increases to £1,395 if the customer chooses the Milanese, Bar-Lugged Bracelet. Alternatively, there is a specifically-fitting GMT Bezel Steel Bracelet for each Case Size for an add-on of £190 on top of the £1,375, however this bracelet is a separate product, not included in the strap options on the product page.
With that, here are Three Initial Positives from the Release of the Nevada Mocha and Nevada Pine Pieces:
+Barley Corn Guilloche Gradient Dials on both Pieces are very appealing to look at, with the Mocha being the highlight for us.
+Reasonable Price in Traditional Farer Fashion, giving the consumers good Value-for-Money.
+Typical of many of Farer Universal's Watches, the Strap customisation options are engaging and makes the watches somewhat unique and special for the customer.
And to End, Here are Three Initial Features that Could Be Better about this Duo:
-GMT Hand Colour may be off-putting for some due to the vibrant colour outside of the times of need for the visibility.
-The date wheel could be coloured to add further contrast and value-for-money to the pieces, especially as the other previous watches in the collection all have painted date wheels. While the white helps legibility, it is the cheaper option and some may prefer a more uniquely-coloured date wheel.
-Only 38MM Version of the Mocha is available, with some larger wrists preferring this colourway, yet it is only 2MM difference, so this may be a rare exception, but still something to consider.
Of Course, these are only visual points using the information from various official sources, and as always we would love to get hands on with the watches featured for a more in-depth review.
